There Is Still a Remnant

The First Step👣

Lately, when people hear the word “Christian,” they often picture something very specific. Politics. Anger. Control. Judgment. A finger pointed outward instead of a hand extended forward.
I feel it in conversations. I sense it in the pause that follows when faith comes up. There is an unspoken assumption that if you follow Jesus, you must also be loud, rigid, offended, or obsessed with telling others what’s wrong with them.
But I want to say this clearly, and from a personal place. Not every Christian is political. Not every Christian is a fanatic. Not every Christian is interested in power, culture wars, or moral scorekeeping.
Some of us are simply trying to follow Jesus.
That’s why I’m writing today.
The Pebble in My Path🚶🏽➡️
What breaks my heart is not that Christianity is criticized. Honest critique can be healthy. What hurts is that a loud version of Christianity has become the default image for everyone.
A version that pushes people away instead of drawing them close.A version that measures holiness by distance instead of love.A version that seems more interested in being right than being kind.
And the truth is, many people have been wounded by that version. Some walked away from faith not because of Jesus, but because of how His name was used against them.
But that is not the whole story.
There is another way of following Jesus that doesn’t make headlines. It doesn’t build empires. It doesn’t need a microphone.
It’s quieter.And it’s still here.
The Compass🧭

Jesus was clear about what mattered most. Love God above all else. Love your neighbor as yourself.
Not love your neighbor once they agree with you. Not love your neighbor once they change. Not love your neighbor from a distance.
Love them as they are.
This is the Christianity I recognize. One that serves instead of shames. One that listens before it speaks. One that sees people not as projects to fix, but as humans to love.
There is a remnant within Christianity that still believes this. Not a movement. Not a brand.A remnant.
They show up quietly. They volunteer without posting about it. They sit with the hurting. They feed the hungry. They make space at the table instead of guarding it.
They don’t ask who you voted for before they help you. They don’t demand perfection before offering grace. They don’t see holiness as separation, but as compassion lived out daily.
This remnant is not interested in Christian nationalism or spiritual dominance. They are interested in faithfulness.
And faithfulness often looks ordinary. It looks like kindness. It looks like patience. It looks like choosing love when no one is watching.
The Open Trail🛣️
If your image of Christianity has been shaped by its loudest voices, I understand the hesitation. But please know this. There are still people walking the quieter path.
People who believe that following Jesus means serving, not ruling.Listening, not lecturing. Loving, not labeling.
And if you are one of them, maybe this is your reminder that you are not alone. The remnant has always existed. It has never been large. It has never been flashy.
But it has always been faithful.
So keep loving. Keep welcoming . Keep extending your hand.
Because sometimes the most powerful witness is not what we say about Jesus, but how closely our lives resemble His.
Stay barefoot. Stay honest. Stay close to the ground.
